Today marks 63 years since the end of the second world war. Not only is this historic veterans day one to remember those who have gone on before - to preserve this great nations freedom, but it is also a day to remember and show support to those who are currently fighting for our lives, our liberty, and our God-given pursuit of happiness. Let us not forget that some of our nations brightest, most courageous, and strong are currently enrolled in the active pursuit of keeping peace and seeding freedom where freedom has not always rung. Let us not forget that many lives have been spent to get us and our nation where we are today.
The lyrics from Lee Greenwood's song, "God Bless the USA," fill my mind today as I reflect back on the yesteryears of our nations past:
If tomorrow all the things were gone I’d worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American where as least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, there’s pride in every American heart,
and it’s time to stand and say:
I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A

On a side note, I've been thinking a lot about (of course) politics lately and have decided to keep writing into the political blogosphere. This political blog, was put on hold last February when Governor Mitt Romney conceded his run for president at CPAC. Though politics remained nearby during the months after February, I didn't feel a desire to write, as it was evident who the Republican nominee would be. Not being entirely happy with the presidential nominee for the republicans, nor the nominee for the democrats, a period of being fed up with politics passed through my life and Bill Politics fell silent.
Now that the world of politics has slowed in terms of "Who will be our next president," Bill Politics has taken a new meaning and objective: the 2012 elections. Over the course of the next few months we will look at the prospective GOP nominees for the 2012 elections.
